Raylin & Nick’s Luxury Boston Wedding

On a rainy morning in October (where there any days that weren’t rainy this season?), bride Raylin was surrounded by her closest girlfriends in her suite at the Mandarin Oriental Boston, getting ready to marry the man of her dreams. This group may have been one of Marissa Pedone Events’ calmest yet; aware that the originally scheduled outdoor ceremony may need to be moved inside, but choosing not to let this throw a wrench in their celebratory morning plans. Armed with polaroid cameras and champagne, the bridesmaids ensured that the room stayed nice and toasty while the ladies got their hair and make up done by Face by Katy Ann.

The groomsmen opted for a more physical approach to their morning, heading out to the Charles River for a quick row, reminiscing of their D1 crew days in college. When everyone ventured to groom Nick’s room, the group opted to try their luck at scratch tickets (sadly of which none were big winners). After changing into their tuxedos, the group headed to a nearby bar, enjoying the ever basic (and ever refreshing) vodka sodas with lime.

The couple chose to brave the rain with a first look on the rooftop, with stunning city views. Fashioned with clear umbrellas, these two lovebirds were all smiles. And as fate would have it, the rain finally subsided, as they read their private vows to one another. Continueing their formal portraits, Raylin & Nick hit all the downtown staples:, including the Boston Public Garden. As they headed back to the hotel the two could only laugh as Nick literally RUNG out water from Raylins train. Always there to catch the unexpected special moments, Zev Fisher Photography did not disappoint.

Since the rain had miraculously stopped (thank you mother nature!), ceremony plans for an outdoor receptuion were solidified, with the MO’s team springing into action and helping to wipe down the garden chairs in the courtyard. An arbor full of lush greenery provided by Artistic Blossoms was the perfect focal point against Boston Back Bay’s cityscape. With vows that not only brought each other but many guests to tears, including our team! Listening to couple’s share their vows is quickly becoming one of my top 3 favorite occurances at a wedding. While I work with many couples leading up to the wedding, it is often that I spend more time with one than the other. Regardless, getting to witness the two share their promises and hopes for their futures is always humbling.

As guests came inside for cocktail hour (it was a bit too chilly to stay outside any longer!), they were greeted with personalized letters from the couple. This is a very popular up and coming trend, and one that Marissa Pedone Events fully supports. Your guests travel from near and far to celebrate their special occasion with you; when you take the time to write them notes with memories from your past and thanks for their support, it does more than serve as a cute photo opp. Your guests are feel grateful for your friendship and love, always reading with full smiles strewn on their faces.

When it was time to head into the grand ballroom, guests were blown away by the beauty of the space, accented by gold charger plates and chavairi chairs from Peak Event Services. Florals in bright whites and soft pinks played perfectly on the organic colors of the space. Pre-set champagne flutes prepared guests for introductions, performed by the MC of Mojo , Wilson Stevens Band. The band did an exceptional job of getting the crown excited to welcome the newly-weds for the first time, with them up on their feet and swinging their napkins high in the air.

A traditional first dance performed by the couple preceded toasts and dinner service. With heartful words to the Raylin & Nick from the father of the bride, he balanced his speech out perfectly, having the guests belly laughing by the end. The groom’s father regaled us with humorous tales from his college days, taking special time to speak about what will surely be a promising career orthopedic surgery for Raylin.

When it was the couple’s turn to speak (a new tradition you already know MPE is strongly behind), groom Nick surprised even his new bride. With a surprisingly melodious voice, Nick broke out into a version of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”, complete with instrumentals from the band. While this is a first for our team, we sure hope it isn’t the last time we see a performance from one of our newly-weds! The way the dancefloor erupted as he concludes was the perfect segway to opening up the dancefloor for the night.

As always, thank you to my lovely couple for entrusting Marissa Pedone Events with such a monumental day. We wish you endless years of love, health and happiness together.
